A Miracle from God

Beloved family in Christ:

We want to tell you about the wonderful grace of God on this couple, Freddy and Agustina. They are from the Ushve community in Beni. Freddy is the brother of Julio Mayer (one of the CBM students in San Lorenzo).

Agustina was 7 months pregnant in November. She was told that the baby was in a bad position, for which they gave her belly massages. That probably caused her to lose amniotic fluid and the baby had to be delivered in an emergency. On November 16, ITM prepared to take her by plane to Cochabamba. At first they took her to the Germán Urquidi Maternal and Children’s Hospital. The baby was 34.5 weeks along. His lungs needed to mature and he was going to need an incubator at birth, and the hospital was going to charge $1000 a day. This cost was impossible to cover because it was a very high amount and it was not known how many days the baby would need an incubator.

In these important hours, a solution was being sought. Therefore, they called the Viedma Hospital to find out if there was a bed in neonatology for intermediate therapy. It should be noted that it was going to be very difficult or impossible for her to be admitted because Agustina did not have transfer papers to that public hospital. BUT on November 18 at 9:30 in the morning she was accepted at that hospital. Agustina had a cesarean section and the baby was born. Agustina stayed a couple of days in the hospital to hydrate him and the baby was in intermediate therapy for a week with antibiotics.

On November 24, Agustina was discharged, and baby Mirian was released from the hospital the following day. He spent 7 days in intermediate neonatology therapy. Miraculously, the expenses were a little more than 200bs, practically nothing compared to what would have been charged ($1000 per day) by the other hospital.

Freddy, Agustina and baby Mirian were housed in a church for a week. Agustina is stable from the surgery and the baby needs vitamins and gain weight to receive her vaccines.
